Smart contract

Code that executes by itself once conditions are met

In detail

A smart contract is a program that runs automatically when the conditions written into it are satisfied. Transfers and swaps happen without an intermediary, which cuts cost and delay. But it does exactly what it says, so a mistake in the code executes as a mistake. That it cannot be undone is both the appeal and the danger.

Example

Write “send automatically in 10 days” and the transfer happens on that day with no human action.
