Trend line

A straight line drawn to show which way price is going

In detail

A trend line connects successive lows, or successive highs. A rising line under the lows reads as an uptrend; a falling line over the highs reads as a downtrend. Which points you choose to connect is a judgment, so two people looking at the same chart can reach different conclusions.

Example

Connect a low of $900 three months ago to a low of $1,000 last month and the rising line says the uptrend is intact.
