Candlestick

Four prices for a period, drawn as one shape

In detail

A candlestick packs the open, close, high, and low into a single figure. If the close is above the open it is drawn one color, below the open another. The wicks reaching up and down mark the high and the low. One candle can represent a day, a week, or any period, and the same market looks different depending on which you choose.

Example

Open 1,000, high 1,080, low 980, close 1,050 gives a body from 1,000 to 1,050 with a 30 upper wick and a 20 lower one.
