What the broker charges each time an order fills
A trading commission is charged by the broker when an order executes, either as a flat fee per trade or based on the day's total. Many brokers now waive it under certain conditions. The smaller the trade, the heavier the fee weighs, so frequent small trades eat into returns. Funds charge an ongoing management fee on top of any purchase commission.
A $200 fee on 10 trades a month adds up to $24,000 a year.
