Shareholder perk

Goods or vouchers a company gives its shareholders

In detail

Shareholder perks are a Japanese custom: hold enough shares and the company sends gift certificates, its own products, or discount vouchers. They come on top of any cash dividend, but nothing requires a company to offer them, so terms change and programs end. To qualify you must be on the register on the record date.

Example

A perk of ¥3,000 in meal vouchers for 100 shares is worth 2.5% of a ¥120,000 position at ¥1,200 a share.
