Merging several shares into one
A reverse split is the opposite of a split: two shares become one, for example. You hold fewer shares but each is worth proportionally more, so the total value is unchanged in theory. Companies use it when the price has drifted very low, among other reasons. Leftover fractions are bought back by the company.
Merging 2 shares into 1 turns 100 shares into 50, and the price doubles in theory.
