Pullback

A temporary dip inside a rising trend

In detail

A pullback is a temporary fall while an uptrend is still in place. Whether it is a pause or the end of the move is only clear afterwards. Moving averages and previous highs are watched as places the dip may stop. If it deepens past the prior low, the trend itself is read as broken.

Example

A rise from 1,000 to 1,300 followed by a dip to 1,200 is a pullback.
