PTS (off-hours trading)

Trading shares outside the exchange's hours

In detail

A PTS lets you trade shares on a broker's own system rather than through the exchange. Because it runs into the evening, you can react the same day to results or news released after the close. Fewer participants means a thinner book and jumpier prices, and not every stock or broker is covered.

Example

The exchange closes at 15:30, but a PTS keeps trading into the night.
