Logarithmic chart

A chart whose vertical axis counts percentage, not price

In detail

A move from $100 to $200 takes the same height as one from $1,000 to $2,000. Without it, a long chart makes only the most recent swings look big. It is the right choice when you want to compare how many times over something grew.

Example

A stock up 10 times in 10 years becomes a straight slope on a log chart.
