The three stock markets run by the Korea Exchange
The Korea Exchange runs three stock markets: the KOSPI market (the main board), KOSDAQ and KONEX. The main board opened in 1956 and is home to the largest companies. KOSDAQ opened in July 1996 so technology and growth companies could raise money, with looser listing standards than the main board. KONEX is open only to early-stage small companies.
Of the 3 markets, the KOSPI index reflects only 1 โ the main board.
