Stochastics

Where today's close sits inside a period's high-low range

In detail

Stochastics expresses where the latest close sits within the high-low range of a chosen period, on a scale of 0 to 100. Above 80 is usually read as overbought and below 20 as oversold. It reacts quickly, which means frequent signals, and it pins to one end during a strong sustained move. It is read much like RSI.

Example

With a high of 1,200, a low of 1,000 and a close of 1,150, the reading is 75.
