How the Tokyo exchange splits listings into three markets
The Tokyo Stock Exchange is divided into Prime, Standard and Growth. Prime sets the highest bars for size and liquidity; Growth is mainly for companies still building their business. Each segment has its own thresholds for shareholders and free float, and failing them leads to a move down or a delisting. The segment tells you what stage the market expects of the company.
Prime listings must keep a tradable market value of at least ¥10 billion, among other tests.
