A savings-type government bond only individuals can buy
Korea Savings Bonds are savings-type government bonds sold only to individuals, first issued in June 2024. They are bought through a dedicated account from ₩100,000 in ₩100,000 steps, up to ₩200 million per person a year. Terms are 5, 10 and 20 years, and held to maturity the interest compounds and is paid in one sum at the end. Held to maturity, interest on up to ₩200 million of purchases is taxed separately at 14% (as of 2026). They can be redeemed after one year, but the extra rate, compounding and special tax treatment are then lost.
Bought in ₩100,000 steps, ₩1.5 million means applying for 15 units.
