Currency pair

Which currency is being measured, and in what

In detail

A currency pair is the combination used to quote a rate. USD/JPY tells you how many yen one dollar costs. The first currency is the one being measured; the second is what it is measured in. Heavily traded pairs have a narrow gap between buying and selling prices. Some pairs barely move during Asian hours.

Example

USD/JPY quoted at 150.25 means one dollar costs 150.25 yen.
