The Bank of Korea's survey of how businesses feel about the economy
The BSI is compiled monthly by the Bank of Korea from asking companies how business feels. It takes the share answering good, subtracts the share answering bad and adds 100, so a reading above 100 means more firms feel things are good. The bank also publishes a Composite Business Sentiment Index (CBSI) built from the main BSIs, with the 2003–2024 average set at 100. Because it captures conditions on the ground before hard data, it is watched for turning points.
With 30% answering good and 20% bad, the BSI is 30 − 20 + 100 = 110.
